Male Nude Figure Drawing Series

  • Kennedy Gallery 1931 L Street Sacramento, CA, 95811 United States (map)

What could be more fun than learning to draw or paint from live male models? The male nude is a time-honored tradition, from ancient Greece to the ateliers of Napoleonic France. Each stand-alone workshop in this bi-weekly series focuses on different methods, traditions and techniques to build artistic prowess.

Each session will start with demos and warm-ups, before moving on to our longer poses.Materials provided. You must be at least 18 years old or supply written parental consent*. Class size is limited. $40 pay-as-you-go, or pay ahead for any two sessions and get $10 off**. Remember cash to tip your models!

  • Session one will focus on foundations. Using colored pencil, we’ll learn how to get those masculine proportions *just right* (3/14).
  • Session two: we will get dirty with charcoal. We’ll focus on capturing movement and gesture to get exciting figures no matter what the pose (3/28).
  • Session three is all about refining those bodies and getting a more accurate form. We’ll use charcoal or ink to focus on the shapes within the shapes (4/11).
  • Session four: we will learn to really flesh out that physique using shadows to create three-dimensional form (4/25).

*Parent must sign consent form and meet the instructor in-person prior to the first session.

**Sign up through Eventbrite, or contact instructor to pay by cash, check, credit, venmo or facebook. Discount will be refunded on the evening of your first session.
